Southern Shorthaul Railroad (SSR) is a customer orientated rail service operator, maintenance provider and manufacturer which operates throughout New South Wales and Victoria.
TRAIN OPERATIONS
SSR is an accredited rail operator, and operates freight trains in NSW and Victoria, primarily focussing on the NSW coal haulage sector and the NSW & Victorian infrastructure train operations sector.
RAILWAY WORKSHOPS
In Victoria, SSR offers a wide variety of locomotive and rollingstock maintenance and manufacturing services through its Bendigo Railway Workshop. SSR has two major facilities in Bendigo with direct access to the broad gauge rail network.
In NSW, SSR operates the Lithgow Railway Workshop, and provides all manner of maintenance activities for locomotives and wagons.

Formed in 2003, SSR came about as the result of a successful management buyout of the former Great Northern Rail Services business from CFCL Australia.
SSR has the ability and expertise to provide its customers with a flexible and responsive service-orientated rail haulage solutions. Never letting the customer down is a prime objective of both the rail and workshop business units.
